Xarelto (rivaroxaban) is an oral blood-thinning drug (anticoagulant) that has been associated with uncontrollable bleeding and hemorrhaging. Xarelto is manufactured by Bayer Pharmaceuticals and marketed by Johnson & Johnson's subsidiary, Janssen Pharmaceuticals. Created as a one size fits all blood-thinner used for blood-clots, deep vein thrombosis and/or pulmoray embolism, Xeralto is marketed as an oral prescription drug that unlike warfarin does not require a specific dosage for each individual.

Xarelto and Uncontrollable Bleeding

One of the serious side-effects of Xarelto is uncontrolled bleeding. Because Xarelto thins the blood in order to prevent clotting, hemorrhaging can continue until the drug is flushed from the system, which can take up to 24 hours. Unlike older blood thinners for which vitamin K is an antidote to excessive bleeding, Xarelto has no such simple remedy.

Injuries from Xarelto can include:

  • Uncontrolled bleeding
  • Rectal bleeding
  • Intestinal bleeding
  • Brain hemorrhaging

Xarelto Lawsuits Transferred to Multi District Litigation

Federal lawsuits filed against Xarelto Defendants including Bayer, Johnson & Johnson, and Janssen Pharmaceuticals, have been consolidated in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana. Judge Edmond Fallon will be presiding over the litigation.

The consolidation of these lawsuits is an important step in resolving the Xarelto litigation. Judge Fallon has worked on Multi District Litigation (MDL) previously. Judge Fallon was crucial in successfully settling the Vioxx litigation. Our lawyers are well-versed with mass tort and multi-district litigation.
