Toyota Announces Recall for Sticking Accelerator Problem
Toyota Motor Sales (TMS), U.S.A, Inc., announced on January 21, 2010 that it will recall approximately 2.3 million vehicles to fix a problem with sticking accelerator pedals.
Toyota vehicles affected by the gas pedal recall include:
- 2009-2010 RAV4
- 2009-2010 Corolla
- 2009-2010 Matrix
- 2005-2010 Avalon
- 2007-2010 Camry
- 2010 Highlander
- 2007-2010 Tundra
- 2008-2010 Sequoia
No Lexus Division or Scion vehicles are affected by the recall action. Also not affected are Toyota Prius, Tacoma, Sienna, Venza, Solara, Yaris, 4Runner, FJ Cruiser, Land Cruiser, Highlander hybrids and certain Camry models, including Camry hybrids. In addition, Camry, RAV4, Corolla and Highlander vehicles with Vehicle Identification Numbers (VIN) that begin with the letter "J" are not affected by the pedal recall.
The Toyota recall will not compensate accident victims who suffered personal injury due to a sticking gas pedal. In addition, many Toyota owners have lost the use of their vehicle, and incurred other economic losses such as diminished value.
