E. coli Contamination Leads to Beef Recall in Maine

The U.S. Department of Agriculture recently announced that Town and County Foods, Inc., of Greene, Maine, has recalled approximately 2,057 pounds of ground and tenderized beef products due to fear of E coli contamination. The USDA's announcement can be read in full here.

The recalled meat (including hamburger patties, stewing beef and sirloin fillets) was produced from April 4-10, 2012 and thereafter sent to retailers and wholesalers in Maine. According to the USDA, the problem was discovered during lab testing done by Town and Country Foods, Inc.

Ingestion of beef contaminated with E. coli can cause significant illness and even death. Dreyer Boyajian LLP represents victims of food-borne illnesses such as E. coli. Our firm is currently representing victims of a salmonella outbreak involving contaminated beef sold at another Maine-based food retailer, Hannaford Bros. Supermarkets. If you or someone you know has been the victim of a food-borne illness, contact our office for a free consultation with one of our attorneys.
