Long Island Apple Store slammed with unsafe premises lawsuit

Many people in Albany have been into the Apple Store in Crossgates Mall and even more people have seen the sleek glass exterior that is the Apple Store trademark. Although the glass doors and walls may attract a certain crowd, there are some people who feel that the glass panels may also be a little dangerous. After an 83-year-old woman from Queens recently filed a lawsuit against a Long Island Apple Store, the company will have to decide whether the glass is a thing of the past.

As a customer, you can expect that stores in New York are not going to be unsafe premises and any dangerous spots are going to be clearly indicated so you can avoid them. It is likely that this 83-year-old thought the same thing when she was approaching what she thought was an entrance to the Apple Store in Manhasset, New York. Unfortunately, according to her lawsuit, the store did nothing to tell customers that what appeared to be open space was actually a glass storefront.

The woman walked right into a glass pane, slamming her face into the wall of glass. The New York Post reports that this was no minor accident either, and that the woman broke her nose after smashing into the wall. Now, she has filed a lawsuit against the technology giant for $1 million, claiming the company should have put some kind of marks on the glass to prevent people from walking into the glass walls.

Since the accident, the New York Post has noted that there are small white strips on the glass at the Long Island Store, but it is unclear if they were in place at the time of the accident or not. If it is discovered that the warning strips were on the glass when the 83-year-old walked into the door, the woman says that the strips were insufficient to warn potential customers.
