Passenger flown to Albany hospital after one-car crash

One man is recovering at Albany Medical Center after the car he was in crashed, killing the driver, reports The Wall Street Journal. The 36-year-old man was riding with a friend in Saratoga County on the Adirondack Northway. Both men were from Saratoga Springs and it is unclear where they were going when the driver crashed into the median, causing an extremely serious car accident.

Sadly, the driver died in the car accident and the 36-year-old passenger was airlifted to Albany. He is in critical condition and it is unknown if he will survive these horrific injuries. While it is obviously a tragedy that the driver died in this accident, it appears that he was driving very fast on the interstate. The Wall Street Journal does not mention, however, if he was speeding.

Driving fast, even if it is at the speed limit can sometimes be dangerous. At higher rates of speed it is harder to stop or correct a drifting car. Putting a passenger at risk by speeding is often negligent and can lead to serious legal consequences if that passenger is hurt or killed. It is possible for a passenger to sue his or her driver or the driver's estate when the driver's actions put the passenger at risk for a car accident.

In this story, the car flew through the air after it hit the median. It landed after it hit a tree near the town of Moreau. It remains to be seen if the passenger will recover from these serious injuries.
