A 25-year-old Schenectady man is recovering in Albany Medical Center Hospital with serious injuries after he was hit by a 16-year-old from Schuylerville. The teenage driver had been speeding along Aqueduct Road in the late afternoon when he left his lane and caused the Niskayuna head-on collision.

Investigators have said that the teenager's speed was a contributing factor of the car accident, but it is still unknown just how fast he was driving when he crashed. It is also unclear why he left his lane and crossed into oncoming traffic.

The hospital has released very few details of the 25-year-old's condition, saying only that he was admitted with serious injuries. Because of the severity of his wounds, the man had to be airlifted by an ambulance helicopter to the hospital.

These kinds of accidents are truly upsetting. Had the teenager stayed on his side of the middle line and driven the speed limit, it is possible this accident never would have happened. Unfortunately, the teenager also died in the crash, but that does not mean that the tremendous medical bills, lost wages and other costs the man has had to shoulder since the accident will go unpaid. The driver can always file a personal injury lawsuit against the estate of the teenager who caused this crash.

These lawsuits are designed to provide compensation to an innocent motorist who is injured by a reckless, careless or negligent driver. The money can also be used for such things as pain and suffering, physical and occupational therapy, or the physical damage caused to a vehicle involved in the accident.
