She was out with a family member when a car was suddenly traveling right at her. This was the shocking moment that preceded a crash that sent a 79-year-old woman to the hospital with internal injuries. This head-on collision was so severe that the woman was airlifted to the Albany Medical Center from the Kingston accident site.
The 79 year old was a passenger in a family member's car, traveling around Sawkill Road when a 61-year-old woman from Woodstock suddenly drifted into their lane and hit their vehicle. The 82-year-old man driving only sustained minor injuries in this devastating crash, but the 79 year old was not so lucky.
Police are investigating the accident, but the woman who was driving in the wrong lane was ticketed for her involvement in the accident. Technically, she received tickets for speeding and for failing to stay in her lane, but it was these two factors that likely contributed heavily to the accident.
Though these tickets are one way to hold the woman responsible for causing such a serious accident, it will do very little to help the woman who was injured. It will not help cover her medical bills, compensate her for her pain and suffering, nor will it provide the financial support that she will likely need as she is discharged and sent home to recover. A personal injury lawsuit, however, would give her the money she will need following this crash. Working with an experienced car accident lawyer will also help her focus on the things that she will need to do, too, like recovering and getting well.
