Injured motorist rushed to Albany Medical Center following crash

When someone is injured in a New York car crash, much of the time it is very clear what happened, who is at fault, and whether criminal or traffic violations are applicable. Other times, however, it is not entirely clear and a more thorough investigation is needed. Take, for example, a recent accident that happened near the town of Ulster.

In this crash an individual was in his or her car, parked on the shoulder of the Thurway. It remains to be seen if he or she was having automobile difficulties or if there was another reason as to why it was on the side of the road. Regardless of the reason, it appears that the car was clearly off the roadway and on the shoulder when a tractor-trailer truck smashed into the vehicle, knocking it across the highway and into oncoming traffic. It seems, however, that the motorist was fortunate in that he or she was not hit by any other vehicles.

The person in the car was rushed to Albany Medical Center with serious injuries. He or she needed to be flown by helicopter to the hospital, although it appears that he or she is expected to survive his or her injuries.

As police continue to investigate, there could be information that incriminates the truck driver even further. As it is, however, there seems to be plenty that indicates the truck driver was at fault here. Why is it that the trucker was unable to keep his or her truck in the highway lane? Why was he or she driving in the shoulder? Why couldn't the truck driver stop before hitting the vehicle? All of these questions would need to be answered if the injured motorist was to file a personal injury lawsuit.
