Police continue to investigate Albany woman's death

Some car accidents are fairly easy to piece together: one driver causes an accident and the other driver is injured or killed. Unfortunately, not all automobile accidents are so simple, especially those with no witnesses or those that end in death. For these accidents, the police must undertake an intensive and, at times, lengthy investigation to determine just what happened. This is especially important for those injured motorists or those families who want to file lawsuits to hold the responsible driver liable for the crash.

Sadly, the family members of a 22-year-old Albany woman will need to wait for answers in a fatal car crash that claimed the young college student's life. The woman was near the Linn-Benton Community College when she was killed in a three-car accident on Highway 99E. The accident was so severe that she died at the scene of the accident.

Police are still trying to piece together what happened. All they know is that the young woman was driving her Geo Metro south on the highway when she was hit by a Nissan Altima. It is unknown why the two vehicles collided and who exactly was at fault, but the collision forced her car into the northbound lanes. There, the woman smashed into a Dodge Dakota.

In addition to the woman's death, the 45-year-old driver of the Dakota, also of Albany, was injured in the automobile accident. The driver was taken to Samaritan Albany General Hospital. It is unknown what his or her condition is or when he or she is expected to be released.

As more information emerges about this tragic accident, there may be enough information for anyone of these three motorists to file a lawsuit against the driver responsible for the crash.
